Dalia is originally from Romania, and lived in Ukraine with her husband and six children until earlier this year, when they left their home due to the dangers of war.
With help from both Irish and Ukrainian friends they moved to Fermoy, and Lisa Dunphy (musical lead) invited Dalia and her husband to a rehearsal with the Fermoy International Choir. Dalia says, “We liked it very much. So here we are. It’s a very nice group of people. Every meeting is fun and interesting.”
Here’s what Dalia has to say about joining the singing group, so far!

I enjoy the most the company and our very good friend director- Lisa. Singing with them is easy and fun.

Singing with the choir makes me feel excellent. I made a lot of friends there.

I got to know a lot of new people and now many of them are my friends. We see each other outside of rehearsal for a cup of tea or picnic. It’s a good opportunity to be in touch with many people and help each other if it is needed.

I think the choir makes you feel an important member of the community. When you go outside you have the feeling that you know everyone, because all the time you meet a familiar face and you can chat.
Singing together unites us and gives us good mood.
