Member stories – Meet Carmel!

Meet Carmel, member of Fermoy International Choir!

Carmel has been a member of Fermoy International Choir since 2019 and has “loved every minute”! This Tipperary woman feels more connected to her town and community thanks to the group–even after living in Fermoy for 20 years. Here’s what she has to say about it:

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐧𝐣𝐨𝐲 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐢𝐫?

“I enjoy the camaraderie and the fun and the feeling of being part of something special.”

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥?

“Singing with the choir makes me feel included. We share a special bond and support each other in the Choir.
“We have had many get togethers as a group over the past few years. St Patrick’s Day was especially fun and there was food, singing, dancing and craic to be had. It was also a chance to chat to other choir members and their families.”

𝐃𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐢𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲?

“Absolutely, I’ve met so many people (young and old) and we always have a smile or a chat should we meet on the street. We’ve also connected with many other groups in the town such as the Fermoy Concert Band, the Ukrainian Solidarity Group, Fermoy Musical Society, Sanctuary Runners, Darkness into Light, the Christmas Shoebox Appeal and many others. Our choir sang along the route of the Darkness into Light walk and it was such an uplifting feeling.”

𝐀𝐧𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 e𝐥𝐬𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐝 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞?

“We are all the same no matter where we are from and singing together as one voice is a fantastic way to celebrate this.”
